About Melody:
I identify as a woman and as a shape shifter who takes many forms including Chinese medicine doctor, acupuncturist, yoga therapist, bodyworker, eco-feminist, surfer, witch, multi-passionate entrepreneur, and mystic. Beyond all these identities, I am spirit manifested in a human body. I believe that by reconnecting with our bodies and with the earth we can heal what is holding us back from our true nature.
I acknowledge that I am a settler born on unceded traditional Pentlatch territory of the Coast Salish First nations, called (Ja-dai-aich) Hornby Island. I reside presently on the unceded traditional territories of the Tla-o-qui-aht and Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ nations, known as Tofino and Ucluelet. I am of Scottish, Irish, English, Polish, German, Scandinavian, Italian, Spanish, and French ancestry. I use the pronouns she/her.
My journey with integrative medicine and the body-mind connection grew from childhood in a grass roots way by digging in the garden, getting lost in my imagination through the forest, swimming in the sea and by experiencing the healing arts within my community.
Through exposure to travel, healing modalities, and teachers I began to gather tools that now comprise my medicine basket that I am grateful to share. I am a Doctor of Chinese medicine (Dip. D.TCM), Traditional Chinese medicine practitioner (Dip. TCMP) and a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac.). I am an E-RYT-500 Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher, YACEP continuing education provider and C-IAYT Yoga Therapist; I have been teaching for fourteen years including leading group classes and workshops. I teach vinyasa, hatha, yin, restorative, pre-natal and yoga nidra. I studied bodywork at the California Holistic Institute of Therapeutic Massage. When I am not in the clinic or teaching yoga, you’ll find me dancing, gazing at the moon, soaking up the natural world, creating magic in my kitchen, exploring shapes on my yoga mat, or splashing around on my surfboard in the ocean. My work has been a devotional process of trauma resolve, self-discovery, and inner healing. I am wholeheartedly committed to revealing the blockages that keep me feeling anything less than the full expression of my most genuine self.
