What does a just, compassionate, reciprocal relationship to yoga look like?
Coastal Bliss Yoga welcomes Emmy Chahal, international, certified, ancestral yoga teacher, B.A. in Cultural Studies, minor in Gender and Women’s Studies from UBC. Join Emmy for a heart-centered, effective cultural awareness training to gain a deeper understanding of the colonial history that yoga emerges from and learn to be in a just relationship with India and South Asian people moving forwards. Participants will create a foundational understanding of the colonized history of yoga, discuss systems of power, social location, identity and hierarchy and learn to identify and navigate cultural oppression. Expect a trusting, courageous and interactive workshop. Bring your curiosity, questions, and reflect on what spirituality and social justice look like in the context of yoga.
Saturday and Sunday Feb. 25 and 26 1-4pm.
Bring: notebook and pen
